Please note that, if applicable, any nonrefundable fees that have been paid by CASL on a player’s behalf will be deducted from the amount of the refund.
NOTICE: There will be a $15 returned check fee. If your check is returned to CASL unpaid your child will not be placed on a team and will be ineligible to participate in game and practices until the registration fee along with the $15 returned check fee is paid in full. Cash or money order only will be accepted as payment for a returned check.
PLAYER ELIGIBILITY: The Capital Area Soccer League prohibits players from participating with other clubs while registered to a CASL recreational team. Also, players may only practice with their assigned CASL recreational team.
ORGANIZATION: The Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) is a 501 (C) 3 non-profit organization founded to promote and administer the operation of a participation soccer league in Wake County and surrounding areas. CASL is run by a volunteer Board of Directors elected by each team’s representative and assisted by paid staff employees.
SEASONS: Recreational teams play a Fall and Spring season. Registration for Fall is held in May/June with games beginning in August. Registration for Spring is held October/November with games beginning in March. Practice will be held once a week for U7 thru U14 teams with game(s) on Saturdays. U16 and U18 teams will practice 3 times before the season begins with game(s) on Sundays. U5 and U6 teams will have a combination practice/game on Saturdays only (except Garner U5 & U6 teams will play on Sundays). In addition, CASL offers one Recreational tournament at the end of each Spring season - The CASL Cup.
INSURANCE: Youth players, coaches and assistant coaches are covered by accident insurance during each season at scheduled practices and games. For reasonable necessary medical expenses, NCYSA’s Youth Soccer Medical Expense Insurance pays up to $100,000 for injuries sustained in a Covered Accident. Payment will not be made for any expenses incurred after 104 weeks of the accident date. An Expense is considered incurred on the date the Medical Care is rendered. A $1,000 Deductible applies to each accident. The policy is secondary to insurance maintained by parents, employers, etc. For more information, Click Here
EQUIPMENT: It is MANDATORY per CASL Rules for all players to wear shin guards. One jersey, one t-shirt, one pair of shorts, one pair of socks, and one soccer ball will be provided for U5-U12 players. U13 teams and up will supply their own uniforms. U11 players and up are required to have numbers put on their jerseys.
REGISTRATION: New AND Veteran players are guaranteed a position on a CASL team if your completed registration is received by the Guaranteed Placement Deadline of June 5, 2014. Registration is not considered complete until all information is received; players with incomplete registrations will not be considered for placement.
EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT: All players (veteran and new) will receive an early bird discount of $10 for completing the registration process by the December 12th deadline. Discount is applied to the fees charged during the online registration. The fees will automatically be $10 higher after the June 5th deadline. If choosing the mail in check option the completed registration MUST BE POSTMARKED by the June 5th deadline. If you are mailing in a check and it is not postmarked by June 5th please make sure you include an additional $10.
GRADE APPROPRIATE POLICY: If a player’s birth date is between Aug. 1 and Oct. 16, the player may request Grade Appropriate Placement. These birth dates are the WCPSS guidelines and will allow Recreational players the option of playing with their school grade peers. Grade Appropriate Placement will be made depending upon availability in the requested age group. A copy of the player’s report card is mandatory at the time of registration to verify the grade the player is expected to be in the Fall 2014 season. Grade Appropriate Placement cannot be made if the player’s birth date appropriate age group is older than the requested Grade Appropriate age group. No player is allowed to play in an age group younger than their birth date appropriate age group. Note: Choosing Grade Appropriate Placement ordinarily will mean playing with and against players who are in the same school grade but who may be as much as 12-14 months older.
SPECIAL REQUESTS – SPECIAL REQUESTS WILL NOT BE HONORED BY CAPITAL AREA SOCCER LEAGUE: USYSA and NCYSA expressly prohibit recruiting or building Recreation Division teams, for this reason CASL does not take requests.
TEAMS DISBANDED: On occasion it becomes necessary to disband a team for the upcoming season. Some of the reasons are drop in numbers of players, larger roster sizes at the older age groups, Challenge/Classic tryouts affecting current team rosters, coaches not returning to the team, lack of player commitment. In the event that the coach chooses not to return, we will make every effort to place the affected players onto teams that are geographically as close as possible to home. Individual players will not be called. Our commitment to you is to place your child on a CASL team. In addition, CASL will try to keep at least two players together if at all possible when reassigning players. Once a team has been disbanded, this decision cannot be reversed.
